About the preceptor Marion is looking for:
Located near Pittsburgh, PA.
I am a South College MSN PMHNP student seeking preceptors for my upcoming psychiatric clinical rotations in the Pittsburgh, PA area, as well as telehealth preceptors across reciprocity states, for required practicums scheduled between August 2026 and August 2027. I am seeking preceptors who provide patient centered, evidence based care and who are open to teaching, observation, and gradual supervised participation in patient encounters.
Clinical Rotation Requirements & Dates
Advanced Health Assessment (All Ages) – Onsite Only (Aug 19, 2026 – Oct 27, 2026 | 120 hours). Acceptable Sites: Primary Care, Urgent Care, NP offices, community health centers, physician practices, long term care, day programs. Acceptable Preceptors: MD/DO, PMHNP, FNP, or other APRN with appropriate experience
Models of Counseling & Psychotherapy – Telehealth Eligible (Oct 28, 2026 – Jan 12, 2027 | 150 hours). Sites: Inpatient or outpatient psychiatric care
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry – Telehealth Eligible (Jan 13 – Mar 23, 2027 | 150 hours). Sites: Inpatient or outpatient psychiatric care (pediatric focused preferred)
Adult & Older Adult Psychiatry – Onsite (Mar 24 – Jun 1, 2027 | 150 hours). Sites: Inpatient or outpatient psychiatric care
Individuals, Families & Groups Psychiatry – Onsite (Jun 2 – Aug 17, 2027 | 180 hours). Sites: Inpatient or outpatient psychiatric care
Psychiatric Mental Health Settings May Include
• Community mental health centers
• Private psychiatric practices
• Inpatient psychiatric units
• Long term care facilities
• Residential treatment centers
• Substance use treatment programs
• School based or university mental health programs
Acceptable Preceptors
• Board certified PMHNP with ≥1 year of experience (preferred)
• FNP or other APRN/NP with ≥5 years of mental health experience
• Psychiatrist (MD/DO) with ≥1 year of experience
• Non psychiatrist MD/DO practicing in mental health with ≥5 years of experience
Additional Allowances
• Up to 100 of the 120 Health Assessment hours may be completed under LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Licensed psychologist (Must have ≥1 year of mental health counseling experience)
Physician Requirements
• Must hold a medical or osteopathic degree from an accredited program
• Must be board certified in their specialty
Supervision Ratios
• 1:1 when preceptor is seeing their own patients
• 2:1 when preceptor has a reduced patient load
Each rotation includes structured objectives, weekly logs, and midterm/final evaluations provided by the school. South College provides full onboarding support, affiliation agreements, and structured evaluation tools. I can also provide my CV, rotation dates, program requirements, and preceptor expectations upon request.
