Breaking News From FNPN: Florida Senate Health Policy Committee approves SB614

This morning the Florida Senate Health Policy Committee passed Senator Denise Grimsley's SB614 allowing APRNs to prescribe controlled substances. In a landmark move, the Senate Health Policy Committee voted in favor of the bill. The bill moves to the Regulated Industries Committee next.

FNPN and our lobbyist, Allison Carjaval, worked closely with Senator Grimsley and her staff to move this bill through the Senate. FNPN was instrumental in crafting the original bill (SB 1352) introduced in the 2014 legislative session.

FNPN will continue to monitor this bill and provide expertise, support and testimony as needed by Senator Grimsley to move this bill and other bills of importance to NPs forward in the 2015 session.
