Safe and Effective Prescribing of Controlled Substances Continuing Education

Posted over 7 years ago by Doreen Cassarino

The Florida Nurse Practitioner Network Board of Directors is pleased to announce that FNPN, in conjunction with the Florida Hospital Association, will be providing a 3 hour continuing education course on the safe and effective prescribing of controlled substances (AANP accreditation pending) which is required for each biennial renewal. This requirement went into effect August 1st so courses taken prior to August 1st WILL NOT meet the requirement. This continuing education is required for ALL ARNPs regardless of whether or not the ARNP will be seeking a DEA license. This course is NOT a requirement to obtain a DEA license so it DOES NOT need to be completed prior to applying for a DEA. IT IS REQUIRED FOR RENEWING YOUR FLORIDA NURSING LICENSE and is required prior to your next renewal and then again for every subsequent renewal. For example if your FL license is up for renewal in April 2017 you will need the course prior to renewal in April 2017 and then again every two years with each renewal.

In order to be easily accessible and convenient to all, the FNPN course will be provided online and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at a nominal cost of $5.00 for FNPN ACTIVE members or ARNPs who work for a FHA member facility and $95.00 for all others. You can check your FNPN membership status at www.fnpn.org. Stay tuned for more information regarding registration and the start date. Further details will be announced via email in the next few weeks or go to www.fnpn.org.
