January 29, 2008
Please call or email the members of the House Health Innovation Committee to urge them toYES ON515, An Act Relating to Health Care in Medically Underserved Areas.
This bill will allow ARNPs who practice in medically underserved areas or with medically underserved populations, as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services to prescribe controlled substances, schedules II through V, in compliance with a protocol with a supervising physician. This bill has traditionally been very controversial and we have worked hard to get the bill in a good position to be heard.
The bill has not yet been placed on the agenda for a specificof the committee, but may be heard in the next few weeks. Since the bill has historically been controversial, we are unsure if we have the votes we need to get the bill out of the committee. We need your help to convince the legislators that the bill will IMPROVE ACCESS TO CARE FOR FLORIDA'S CITIZENS.
